Learning Better Behaviors

Changing our behaviors is by far one of the most hardest things to do. When we have been programmed to operate one way we do so because of what was modeled to us growing up. After a while it becomes all we know especially when there is nothing else around to show us different. As I've gotten older I've learned that it's not always my situation that's keeping me from reaching my desired goals but it's me being in my own way. I'm learning to get out of my own way by slowly giving myself small goals to achieve. I use to want to make drastic changes feeling like I would never make the change if I didn't but that's not the case at all. I've come to find that small doable goals will get you closer to your goals way more than trying to change everything all at once.
"I'VE COME TO FIND THAT SMALL DOABLE GOALS WILL GET YOU CLOSER TO YOUR GOALS WAY MORE THAN TRYING TO CHANGE EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE."
We achieve better behaviors by simply trying. When we try we build experience with that new behavior. There will of course be times we fall off track reverting back to our old ways but that is apart of the process. We won't undo overnight what's been done for years. I'm learning that when we surrender to the process and be patient with ourselves while we adjust to this new way of living it can take so much pressure off of us along the way. Surrendering can be hard at first because we most often times want that instant gratification but I'm learning that there is something about perservering that makes it all worth it. Allowing yourself to slowly grow into someone different right before your own eyes is an amazing thing. Remember... "If you keep on doing what you've always done you'll keep on being what you've always been. Nothing changes unless you make it change."
